It's that time of year again! Humpback whales are now migrating so Jack and Kerry McLeod have been following a pod of humpback whales all the way from Alaska. A special humpback named Winifred joined the pod a few days ago. Jack and Kerry are documenting her behavior patterns for their show. Help Jack and Kerry McLeod document a special whale's journey!
If you are at least Level 9, you will get the chance to join the whale watching in the “A Whale of a Tale” event. You will need to force-close the game to see the update, or even reboot your device.
The A Whale of a Tale is a Leaderboard event and it is made up of two rounds. A Whale of a Tale Round 1 starts on January 21 and ends on January 26. Next, A Whale of a Tale Round 2 will run from January 27 until February 1.
Earn a Gold Rank in any of the Rounds and you will win Billy the mascot, a Temporary Farmhand, for 20 days. Aim to reach the Gold Rank in both Rounds to get the Harvestable Whale Fountain!
Start off the research by tapping on the Ocean Diorama production set near the beach.
You will compete for the highest rank on the Leaderboard by collecting the most Research Points.
You'll get Research points when you turn in supplies at the Ocean Diorama production set.
Look out for the chum buckets around the island to win extra Research Points!
As you progress in the Leaderboard, you will also be able to reach your Daily Goals! Reaching your Daily Goals will give you Badges.
Collect Badges to unlock rewards. These rewards will change for each round.
Boost with Bonuses!
To increase the amount of Research Points you receive, use these Boosts: x1.5 and x2 Point Bonus Boost. You can upgrade x2 Bonus to x3 to get even more Research points.
The boost will DOUBLE the items you receive from ALL your island Landmarks!
Temporary Landmark: Winifred the Humpback Whale
Winifred the Humpback Whale is a temporary area that you can forage for event items needed during the study of whale migration.
Temporary Guides: Jack and Kerry McLeod
You can rent Jack and/or Kerry McLeod as Temporary Guides to help you out during the event. They will give you a higher chance of finding rare ingredients.
Note: Jack and Kerry McLeod are temporary farmhands, and will only stay on your farm for the whole duration of the A Whale of a Tale event.
